1. Raw Material Selection
High-quality structural steel billets or slabs are carefully selected in accordance with specified mechanical and chemical requirements to ensure strength, durability, and performance consistency.
2. Heating
The steel billets/slabs are heated in a reheating furnace to approximately 1,100–1,200°C, achieving optimal plasticity for subsequent rolling operations.
3. Hot Rolling
Through precision rolling mills, the heated steel is continuously hot-rolled and formed into the required Z-profile geometry, ensuring accurate section dimensions and interlock integrity.
4. Controlled Cooling
After rolling, the steel profiles undergo controlled air cooling or water spray cooling to achieve the desired microstructure and mechanical properties.
5. Straightening and Cutting
The cooled sheet piles are straightened to eliminate residual stress and deformation, then cut to standard or customized lengths with strict dimensional tolerances.
6. Quality Inspection
Comprehensive inspections are conducted, including:
Dimensional accuracy checks
Mechanical property testing
Visual surface inspection
to ensure full compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
7. Surface Treatment (Optional)
If required, surface treatments such as painting, galvanizing, or anti-corrosion coating are applied to enhance corrosion resistance and extend service life.
8. Packaging and Shipping
Finished products are securely bundled, protected, and labeled to prevent damage during handling and transportation, then prepared for domestic or international shipment.
AZ18 steel sheet piles are commonly used in:
Port and wharf engineering (wharf walls, berths)
Bridge and foundation cofferdams
Flood control projects
Retaining walls in infrastructure applications
Underground structures (basements, parking lots)

Q1: What does “AZ18” mean?
The AZ18 is a Z-type sheet pile section of the AZ series and is mainly characterized by its section modulus and capacity.
Q2: Is AZ18 suitable for permanent structures?
Yes. AZ18 is well established as the material of choice in permanent marine and earth retaining structures, when adequately designed and protected from corrosion.
Q3: How do you achieve water tightness?
Interlocks provide a minimum level of sealing, for cofferdams the use of sealants or welding can enhance water tightness.
Q4: What is the difference between AZ and U sheet piles?
Efficiency / strength of AZ (Z-type) is superior, but U-type is more convenient for alignment in simple projects.
Q5: Can the length be custom-made?
Yes. The lengths can be made for the project requirement, such as long piles for deep foundation.
