Carbon Steel Wire Rod is a hot-rolled steel product supplied in convenient coil form for easy transport, storage, and handling. Unlike straight bars, coiled wire rod can be stacked efficiently, saving transport and storage space. For example, an 8mm wire rod can be coiled into a disc approximately 1.2-1.5 meters in diameter and weighing hundreds of kilograms, ideal for large-scale industrial distribution.
One of the biggest advantages of hot rolled wire rod is its excellent machinability. Whether low-carbon, high-carbon, or alloy steel, wire rod possesses good plasticity and toughness, making it easy to form. You can cold-draw it into steel wire, straighten and cut it into bolts or rivets, or braid it into wire mesh and wire rope. Therefore, wire rod is widely used in the construction, machinery, automotive, and metal products manufacturing industries.
Quality is paramount, and modern Wire Rods mills were developed for this purpose. Strict diameter tolerance control (typically within ±0.1mm) ensures consistent coil dimensions. Controlled cooling and surface treatment processes create smooth, low-oxide-scale surfaces, reducing the need for subsequent polishing. This is particularly important for high-carbon steel lead screws used in springs, as surface quality directly affects their fatigue life.

1. Packaging Method
Roll Bundling: Hot-rolled steel wire is bundled with steel straps, each roll weighing 0.5–2 tons.
Protective Covering: The surface of the roll is covered with waterproof cloth or plastic film to prevent moisture and rust; a desiccant can be placed inside.
End Protection and Labeling: End caps are installed, and labels are affixed indicating the material, specifications, batch number, and weight.
2. Transportation Method
Road Transportation: The rolls are loaded onto flatbed trucks and secured with steel chains or straps.
Rail Transportation: Suitable for large-volume transportation; use padding blocks and supports to prevent movement.
Sea Transportation: Can be transported in containers or in bulk; pay attention to moisture protection.
3. Precautions
Moisture-proof and rust-proof packaging
Stable loading to prevent roll movement
Comply with transportation safety regulations
4. Advantages
Reduces loss and deformation
Maintains surface quality
Ensures safe and timely delivery
