ASTM A106 / ASME SA106 Seamless Steel Pipe Manufacturer & Exporter
Astm A106 and ASME SA106 define seamless carbon steel pipes engineered to operate steadily under high-temperature and high-pressure environments. This pipe standard ranks among the most commonly adopted specifications for industrial piping work.
Pipes manufactured to A/SA106 standards cover a broad spectrum of industrial usage scenarios. Typical application fields include data center construction, oil & gas facilities, refineries, power stations, petrochemical complexes, industrial boilers, marine shipbuilding and custom mechanical components, alongside many other industrial projects.
ASTM A106 references ASTM A530 for wall thickness tolerances of seamless pipe, as ASTM A530 outlines the general technical requirements adopted by A106.
The specification stipulates that wall thickness measured at any location must not fall below 87.5% of the designated nominal wall thickness (a maximum minus tolerance of 12.5%).
For pipes NPS 12” and smaller, the weight of each single length may not exceed ±10% over and -3.5% below the theoretical specified weight.
For sizes above NPS 12”, individual pipe lengths shall have a weight tolerance of +10% and -5% relative to the nominal weight.
Unless special requirements are agreed upon, pipes NPS 4” and below can be weighed by batch. All pipes larger than NPS 4” must be weighed individually.
As adopted across steel pipe manufacturing facilities, A106 seamless pipes are manufactured in accordance with an outside diameter tolerance of ±1%.
A/SA106 seamless pipe is widely recognized and specified for use within the following industry codes:
ASME B31.1 Power Piping
ASME B31.3 Process Piping
ASME B31.4 Liquid Hydrocarbon Pipeline Transportation Systems
ASME B31.8 Gas Transmission & Distribution Piping
ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC)
Q1: What is Astm A106 Seamless Steel Pipe?
Carbon seamless pipe for high-temperature & high-pressure service, widely used in power, petrochemical and oil & gas sectors.
Q2: ASTM A106 vs ASME SA106?
Identical technical requirements. SA106 is the ASME version required for pressure vessel and power projects.
Q3: Available grades?
Grades A, B, C. Grade B is the most commonly specified grade.
Q4: Typical applications?
Oil & gas lines, boiler/steam piping, power plant and petrochemical high-temperature pipelines.
Q5: What sizes can you supply?
Comprehensive range including SCH40, SCH80, SCH160. Custom sizes supported.
Q6: Can A106 pipe work under high pressure?
Yes. It is designed for high-temperature and high-pressure industrial working conditions.
Q7: What documents come with goods?
MTC, chemical & mechanical test reports, full export documents. SGS/BV third-party inspection available.
Q8: Surface treatment options?
Black paint, anti-rust oil, PE wrapping. Custom coatings upon request.
Q9: Seamless vs welded pipe?
Seamless pipe has no weld seam, offering better pressure and high-temperature performance.
