ASTM A36 Prefabricated Steel Structure Building | Custom Steel Frame Factory, Warehouse & Office Buildings
Steel Structure Building
Built with high-strength steel, steel structures stand out for solid seismic and wind resistance, fast construction timelines and flexible space layout.
Steel Structure House
Light-gauge steel framing is widely used for steel homes. This building style is energy-efficient, eco-friendly, well-insulated and can be finished in a shorter construction cycle.
Steel Structure Warehouse
Steel warehouses feature wide clear spans, efficient space usage, quick assembly and flexible design options.
Steel Structure Factory Building
Steel factories offer excellent load-bearing performance. Large column-free spans are achievable, making them a practical fit for production and other industrial uses.
Core steel structure products for factory construction
1. Main load-bearing structure (adaptable to tropical seismic requirements)
| Product Type | Specification Range | Core Function | Central America Adaptation Points |
| Portal Frame Beam | W12×30 ~ W16×45 (ASTM A572 Gr.50) | Main beam for roof/wall load-bearing | The structure adopts a high seismic-performance node design using bolted connections instead of welds to minimize the risk of brittle failure. The cross-section has also been optimized to reduce overall weight, making transportation and handling more efficient. |
| Steel Column | H300×300 ~ H500×500 (ASTM A36) | Supports frame and floor loads | The base is equipped with embedded seismic connectors to enhance structural stability. A hot-dip galvanized finish with a zinc coating of no less than 85μm is applied, ensuring reliable corrosion protection in high-humidity environments. |
| Crane Beam | W24×76 ~ W30×99 (ASTM A572 Gr.60) | Load-bearing for industrial crane operation | Designed for heavy-duty applications (5–20 ton cranes), the structure features end beams equipped with shear-resistant connection plates to ensure stable and reliable performance under load. |
2. Enclosure system components (weather sealing and rust protection)
Roof purlins: C12×20 to C16×31 hot-dip galvanized sections, spaced 1.5–2 m apart to carry color-coated steel roof panels. The system is engineered to withstand Typhoon Level 12 wind loads.
Wall purlins: Z10×20 to Z14×26 sections coated with anticorrosive paint. Vent cutouts are integrated to lower indoor humidity, ideal for factories operating in tropical climates.
Cross bracing uses Φ12–Φ16 hot-dip galvanized round bars, paired with L50×5 angle corner braces. These lateral stiffeners reinforce the whole frame for wind resistance up to 150 mph.
3. Auxiliary support items (tailored for local construction practices)
Steel embed plates: 10–20 mm thick, hot-dip galvanized. Designed for concrete foundations, the standard foundation solution across Central America.
Fasteners: Grade 8.8 hot-dip galvanized high-strength bolts. Site welding can be avoided to cut down installation time.
Finishing coatings: Water-based fire retardant paint with ≥1.5-hour fire rating, plus UV-stable acrylic anticorrosive paint with a service life of over 10 years. Both formulations meet regional environmental regulations.
Steel Structure Sections
Steel sections fall into two broad categories: standard profiles covered by international specifications, and custom proprietary profiles.
I-beams: These are the classic I-profiles. Naming varies by region — UB (Universal Beam) and UC (Universal Column) in the UK; IPE, HE, HL and HD profiles across Europe; W-shapes / wide flange sections (WF) and H-sections in the US.
Z-sections: Recognisable by their opposing, offset flanges.
HSS: Hollow Structural Sections, also referred to as SHS (Structural Hollow Sections). This family covers square, rectangular, round tube and oval profiles.
Angle steel: L-shaped profiles.
Structural channels, also known as C-sections.
T-beams: T-shaped sections.
Steel flats: Rectangular cross-section bars, narrower than steel plates.
Steel rods: Solid round or square stock, with length far exceeding its cross-sectional dimension.
Steel sheets: Flat metal products under 6 mm (1/4 inch) in thickness.
| Processing Stage | Equipment Used | Description |
| Cutting | CNC plasma cutting and flame cutting, shearing machines | Plate and section steel are cut by plasma or flame cutting and lighter plate by shearing. Tolerance on size and shape is closely monitored. |
| Forming | Bending machines - folding machines - coil materials | Cold bending, press braking for edge and rain gutters, rolling for circular and arc-shape products such as round roof tile, round windows and door. |
| Welding | Submerged arc welding machines, manual CO2 gas shielded welding machines, electric arc welding machines | H beams and columns are submerged arc welded, connection plates are manual welded, and CO2 welding is used for plates of thinner steel. |
| Hole Making | CNC drilling and punching machines | CNC drilling allows for accurate bolt holes in structural elements. Punching is also utilized for the production of high efficiencies batches holes with close tolerances. |
| Surface Treatment | Shot peening/sandblasting machines, grinding machines, galvanizing production lines | Surface is cleaned by blasting, weld seam are ground smooth and hot dip galvanize is for rust protection. |
| Assembly | Assembly platforms, measuring tools | Parts are disassembled prior to shipping for two-step assembly, Pre-assembled at fit-up check by dimensional check, disassembled after dimensional check and shipped safely and efficiently. |
| Test Item | Standard & Method | Description |
| Salt Spray Test | ASTM B117 (Neutral Salt Spray Test) / ISO 11997-1 (Cyclic Salt Spray Test) | Evaluate the coating's corrosion resistance under high salinity conditions, suitable for coastal environments such as Central America. |
| Adhesion Test | ASTM D3359 (Cross-cut Test) / ASTM D4541 (Tear Test) | Cross-cut adhesion testing checks the coating's adhesion, and pull-out testing measures the bond strength between the coating and the substrate. |
| Humidity Resistance Test | ASTM D2247 (40°C/95% RH) | Evaluate the coating's performance under high humidity conditions to prevent blistering and cracking in rainy climates. |
| UV Aging Test | ASTM G154 | Simulate long-term UV exposure to ensure the coating exhibits good resistance to fading and surface degradation. |
| Film Thickness Test | ASTM D7091 (Dry Film Test) / ASTM D1212 (Wet Film Test) | Measure the coating thickness to ensure it meets specified corrosion protection requirements. |
| Impact Resistance Test | ASTM D2794 | Evaluate the coating's impact durability to reduce damage during handling and installation. |

Q: Which standards apply to your steel structures?
A: Our steel structures follow American specifications including ASTM A36, ASTM A572 and more. For reference, ASTM A36 is a common carbon structural grade, while A588 offers superior weather resistance and works well in harsh outdoor environments.
Q: What is your steel quality control process?
A: We source steel from reputable domestic and global mills with robust internal quality systems. Once materials arrive, we carry out full inspections. These cover chemical analysis, mechanical property checks, and non-destructive tests such as ultrasonic testing (UT) and magnetic particle testing (MPT), to confirm compliance with required standards.
