If a layer of condensed water adheres to the surface of the galvanized layer, it will become a corrosive aqueous solution and adhere to the surface of the galvanized layer after reacting with oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbon, sulfur dioxide, soot, dust and other chemical gases. , forming an electrolyte. This electrolyte and the zinc layer with poor chemical stability undergo electrochemical corrosion, resulting in a powdery corrosion product - white rust
The main cause of zinc layer corrosion indoors is
① Indoor air humidity is high;
② The finished product is not dried and put into storage;
③ There is a layer of water film condensed on the surface of the zinc layer. When the moisture content in the air reaches 60% or in the range of 85-95%, and the pH<6, the corrosion reaction is more severe. When the water temperature is as high as about 70°C, the corrosion rate of the zinc layer is the fastest.
The method of preventing white rust is
① When stacking zinc plates, there should be no condensation on the surface;
② Air circulation should be maintained in the warehouse, and the relative humidity of the air should not be within the range of 60% or 85-95%;
③ There should be no harmful gas and excessive dust when stacking zinc plates;
④ Oil and passivate the surface of the galvanized layer.
