Key materials purchased from China in Central America and their applications

(I) Low-alloy, high-strength steel: Q345B
Q345B is a "must-have" material for Central American infrastructure projects. With a yield strength of 345 MPa, it combines excellent weldability and impact resistance. It complies with GB/T standards and is ISO9001 certified.

In two major sewage pipeline expansion projects in Nicaragua, a total of 1,471.26 tons of Q345B hot-rolled Larsen steel sheet piles were purchased in one go. These were used for the foundation construction of 87.2 kilometers of sewage pipelines, five pumping stations, and one sewage treatment plant. Available in 9m, 12m, and 15m lengths, they perfectly matched the required depth of the underground project. The core advantage of this material is its structural stability in tropical, rainy climates, while offering a price-performance ratio far exceeding that of similar local products.

(II) High-Quality Carbon Structural Steel: SPHT1 and SAE Series

SPHT1: As a stamping steel under the Japanese JIS standard, SPHT1 has become the preferred choice for infrastructure construction in the Dominican Republic due to its high plasticity and toughness. Royal Steel previously customized 900 tons of SPHT1 hot-rolled coil for a Dominican client. After optimizing stamping parameters and further processing into pipes, the SPHT1 was used in urban pipeline construction. Its balanced strength and formability made it suitable for the frequent pipeline laying needs in Central America.

SAE 1006/1008: These two low-carbon hot-rolled steels are core materials for manufacturing lightweight structural components. Royal Steel Group once exported 14,000 tons of SAE 1008 hot-rolled coils to Brazil.

(III) Weathering Structural Steel: A588 Gr B
A588 Gr B weathering steel, with its self-healing rust layer, has gained market share in the high humidity and highly corrosive environments found in parts of Central America.
Mexico once imported 3,000 tons of A588 Gr B hot-rolled steel plates from our company for use in coastal bridge and port infrastructure construction.

(IV) General-Purpose Carbon Steel: SS400 and ASTM A36 Basic Supplies
SS400 (Japanese standard) and ASTM A36 (American standard) are "essential consumables" for Central American industry. With yield strengths of 245 MPa and 250 MPa, respectively, they are suitable for low-load structural components and general machinery manufacturing. Royal Steel Group's Colombian customers primarily purchase 3.0mm patterned steel plates made of SS400 for anti-slip applications in transportation and construction platforms.
