Recently, a symposium on the coordinated promotion of steel structure development was held in Ma'anshan, Anhui, hosted by the China Iron and Steel Association and organized by Ma'anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., with the theme of "Integration and Innovation - High-efficiency Steel to Help Steel Structure "Good House" Construction". Xia Nong, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association, Zhang Feng, Chief Engineer of the Science and Technology and Industrialization Development Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Qi Weidong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Ma'anshan Iron and Steel, and more than 80 expert representatives from 37 steel structure building design and construction related enterprises, scientific research institutes, and 7 steel companies gathered together to discuss the working methods and paths for the coordinated development of the steel structure building industry chain.

At the meeting, Xia Nong pointed out that steel structure construction is an important area of green transformation in the construction industry, and it is also an effective way to implement ecological strategies and build safe, comfortable, green and smart living spaces. This meeting focused on the key high-performance steel material of hot-rolled H-beam, which grasped the key point of this issue. The purpose of the meeting is for the construction industry and the steel industry to jointly promote the development of steel structure construction with hot-rolled H-beam as a breakthrough, discuss the mechanism and path of deep integration, and ultimately serve the overall situation of "good house" construction. After the meeting, Xia Nong led a team to visit and investigate China 17th Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd. and Anhui Honglu Steel Structure (Group) Co., Ltd., and conducted in-depth discussions on the demand for steel for steel structure construction, the obstacles faced in promoting steel structure construction, and suggestions on promoting the coordinated development of the steel structure construction industry chain. Development Progress And Trends Of The Steel Industry
The current development of the steel industry shows a significant trend of deep integration of green and low-carbon, technological innovation and intelligent transformation. In China, Baosteel Co., Ltd. recently delivered the first BeyondECO-30% hot-rolled plate product. Through process optimization and energy structure adjustment, it has achieved a carbon footprint reduction of more than 30%, providing a quantitative basis for supply chain emission reduction. Hesteel Group and other companies are accelerating the transformation of products to high-end, launching 15 domestic first-time products (such as corrosion-resistant cold-rolled hot-formed steel) and import-substituting products in the first half of 2025, with R&D investment exceeding 7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 35%, promoting the leap of steel from "raw material level" to "material level".
Artificial intelligence technology deeply empowers the production process. For example, the "steel big model" developed by Baosight Software won the SAIL Award at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, covering 105 industrial scenarios, and the application rate of key processes reached 85%; Nangang proposed the "Yuanye" steel big model to optimize ore distribution and blast furnace control, achieving an annual cost reduction of more than 100 million yuan. At the same time, the global steel structure is facing reconstruction: China has promoted production cuts in many places (such as Shanxi requiring steel companies to reduce production by 10%-30%), the United States has increased its production by 4.6% year-on-year due to tariff policies, while the production of the European Union, Japan and South Korea has declined, highlighting the trend of regional supply and demand rebalancing.
